Recruiting new players
Hello all,
For those who weren't online last american night, we had a... discussion about getting new players into PvP. Now I won't get into the argument of premades or not, because I want to address another issue, which is Sanctuary.
My argument here is that new players are obviously directed to Sanctuary, which is fine. I got nothing against Sanctuary, but let's be honest; it's full of PvErs who never or barely PvP, or like Drenneth would tell me, think that PvP is about jumping off in Shambala for quick BB/MoP. I do check Sanctuary times to times, but while I do often see PvP questions, I rarely see people answer them, or give good answers. It's often people who barely know PvP or do PvP for the quick Shambala BB that answer, so new players either get 1) no answers 2) "oh I don't PvP" 3) bad information that, I'm sure of it, will lead them to be totally confused and get steamrolled on. I don't always have the time to reply in Sanctuary, and I'm not gonna tell the PvP community to monitor Sanctuary, because let's be honest, Sanctuary is cancer sometimes.
Now before someone comes in and argue about premades; I totally agree that it's scary for new players when we que all in together as an organized team who know what they are doing, but read this : we know what we are doing. They don't. How can they know what to do?
I totally agree with Powerworker, yes, they can just google it, but like Freedan said; a lot of stuff on TSW is sadly outdated. I personally don't know where I could find a pvp build to show new players. All I know is to directly talk to them. And that's how I learned pvp; I joined Freedan and Drenneth's cabal and they told me what I needed to know and my pvp experiences after that were perfect.
I don't care how you learned how to PvP, but look; if Freedan and Drenneth didn't force me into PvP and fed me infos, I would never had join PvP, simple as that. And I'm pretty sure that if people took the time to guide new players into PvP, we would get more PvPers and a more active community.
Now if you want to argue about how to get new players into PvP, go ahead, but I already made my own project for it, and this is why I'm posting this thread.
I plan on posting that script in Sanctuary, and maybe Event, every now and then. Will it work or not, I don't know, but I'm thinking of adding names to that script, as resources. Currently, I only have Freedan, Kinii, and I'll ninja in Drenneth, but I kinda feel awkward about it, because they are from my cabal(s). I don't want to make this a cabal recruitment or say that only Forgotten/UnleasheD are nice PvP people. There's also the fact that they are all americans (I mean yeah Kinii never sleeps but still), and got jobs '_>' so they are good names for at night, but not during the day for the europeans.
Kinii also offered her Discord server as a voice chat, which I'm gonna include in the script and a future forum thread most likely.

So yeah : I need names. I need people who volunteer for answering new players, to who I can send them to. I would also like it if I could get names from multiple factions, because yeah I could guide templars, but I won't be able to join them in Stonehedge and see how they doing in there.
Yes I got alts but no
Also, if you have any suggestion on how to improve this script, or how to recruit/advertise for PvP in Sanctuary or in General, shoot it.
And while I already got Drenneth's argument about this; look, I understand that there's a lot of new players who join Shambala only for the quick BB gain, but I also think that with proper guidance, they will see that PvP is fun and they will stick to it. Proof : me. So please; let's try to encourage new players to join PvP and show it as something fun. The best way to grow this community is to include them in, give them a hand, show them. Just nerfing ourselves by going full pug isn't gonna encourage them to join us, they will just do it for the daily, we need to do more than just whine about premades.
